Restoring Democracy

Putting Power Back in the Hands of the People

Britain’s political system is broken. The current establishment has failed the people, allowing an out-of-touch elite to control decision-making while disregarding public opinion. Reform UK is committed to restoring democracy, ensuring that government works for the British people, not against them.

1. Reforming the House of Lords

The unelected, crony-filled House of Lords is outdated and undemocratic. Reform UK will:

  • Replace the Lords with a smaller, more democratic second chamber.
  • End political appointments, ensuring representatives serve the people, not party interests.
  • Introduce clear accountability and transparency in decision-making.

2. Electoral Reform for Fairer Representation

Millions of British voters are shut out of the political system under the current first-past-the-post system. Reform UK will:

  • Hold a referendum on introducing proportional representation (PR) for general elections.
  • Ensure every vote counts by providing fairer representation in Parliament.
  • Increase voter turnout by making elections more meaningful and representative.

3. Stopping Electoral Fraud

The current postal voting system is open to abuse. Reform UK will:

  • Restrict postal voting only to the elderly, disabled, or those who physically cannot attend polling stations.
  • Introduce stricter ID requirements to prevent fraudulent voting.
  • Implement stronger checks to protect the integrity of elections.

4. Reforming the Civil Service

Britain’s civil service is filled with bureaucratic inefficiency and political bias. Reform UK will:

  • Appoint leaders from the private sector who bring real-world experience and accountability.
  • Ensure civil servants change with governments, rather than acting as a permanent political force.
  • Cut waste and inefficiency, making government work faster and more effectively.

5. Protecting British Sovereignty

The European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) and other international agreements restrict Britain’s ability to govern itself. Reform UK will:

  • Leave the ECHR and replace it with a British Bill of Rights that puts British citizens first.
  • Reject international policies that undermine national democracy, including the WHO Pandemic Treaty and WEF influence.
  • Strengthen national decision-making, ensuring that laws and policies reflect British values and interests.

6. Giving Local Government More Power

Local councils are too often controlled by national directives rather than local communities. Reform UK will:

  • Allow local authorities more control over budgets to invest in what their residents truly need.
  • Ensure direct democracy through local referendums on major policies.
  • End wasteful spending on political projects, ensuring councils prioritise essential services like roads, policing, and housing.

Reclaiming Britain for the People

Reform UK is dedicated to making Britain a fully sovereign, democratic nation, free from corruption, political cronyism, and bureaucratic control. We believe in common-sense politics that puts British citizens first.

If you believe in real change, vote Reform UK. Together, we can take back control and build a truly democratic Britain.
